State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant

State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant

Our world is seeing a growing number of individuals entangled in the web of addiction.  Specifically, opioids have claimed the lives of countless people.   Clinically, it seems as if a holistic, systemic approach should be taken to help addicts remain drug-free.  In order to assist addicts in recovery in becoming independent, productive members of society, a program was introduced called the State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant.

Information

We at Northern Tier Community Action Corporation are pleased to partner with Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, Incorporated (ADAS) to provide rental assistance (up to six months) for recovering addicts who are referred to us by ADAS.  This program does more than “pay rent” for a limited time.  SOR engages recovering addicts through intensive case management, which is ongoing.  This includes working side-by-side with such offices as PA Career Link, Offices of Human Services, local social service groups that potentially provide household items (if supplies are available), and a host of other human service agencies.    Approved individuals are also held accountable, and are expected to continue attending drug and alcohol recovery treatment.

Eligibility

As of this writing (2020), to be eligible for SOR, individuals must:

  • Have an official clinical diagnosis for an opioid abuse disorder.
  • Have a referral to Northern Tier Community Action solely through ADAS. The ADAS Website can be found here: http://adasonline.org/   Please contact the Emporium OR Port Allegany Office of ADAS to inquire.
  • Reside in, or relocate to, Cameron County, Elk County or McKean County (Pennsylvania).
